A Gentle Start to the New Year, 2026. How could you make this New Year work better for you?
The beginning of a new year often comes with a sense of expectation—to reflect, to set goals, or to make changes. For some, this can feel motivating. For others, it can feel overwhelming, especially if the past year has been challenging. From a counselling perspective, it’s important to recognise that there is no right or wrong way to feel at this time of year. You may feel hopeful, tired, uncertain, or a mixture of all three. Whatever your experience, it deserves care and understanding.
Holidays Are Coming… Why Christmas Can Be Hard and How to Cope
The festive season is often portrayed as a time of joy, warmth, and celebration. For some, it is but for many others, Christmas can bring feelings of stress, sadness, loneliness, or emotional overwhelm. As counsellors, we see this every year — people silently struggling under the weight of expectations, memories, and emotional triggers that surface during this time of year. If that’s you, please know that you're not alone, and your feelings are valid.
World Mental Health Day 2025
Every year on October 10th, we mark World Mental Health Day. It is a gentle reminder to slow down and check in with ourselves and those around us. In this blog, I share why this day is so important and suggest some small things we can do to make a big difference in caring for our mental health.
Navigating Grief and Loss: You’re Not Alone
Grief is a deeply personal and often overwhelming experience that touches us all at some point in our lives. Whether it's the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a major life change, or even the loss of identity or routine, the emotional impact can be profound and far-reaching. In this blog I share what grief can feel like and what it can be like journeying through grief as a process. I also offer some ideas of how you can better support yourself and how counselling can help support you during the time of grief and/or loss. If you are struggling and considering counselling support, please contact me via my website contact form. We can then arrange a time to speak and discuss your needs.
